Arizona tax rules we plan around.

$0

Arizona tax on Social Security

The state doesn’t tax your benefit, so the planning is about the federal side: how much of it becomes taxable, and when you claim.

2.5%

Flat state income tax

It applies to IRA withdrawals, Roth conversions and most pensions. We count it in every conversion and withdrawal decision.

25%

Of long-term gains subtracted

For assets acquired after 2011, Arizona subtracts 25% of the net long-term gain. One more reason to choose which shares you sell, and when.

None

Arizona estate or inheritance tax

Estate planning here centers on beneficiaries, titling and the federal rules, coordinated with your attorney.

Arizona law for the 2026 tax year. Federal taxes still apply, and your situation decides which rules matter.
